NETBALL: First defeat for Tulips
Spalding Tulips sported their own kit for the first time but also lost on Thursday evening for the first time since their formation.
But the newly-formed team remain in second place in Division C of the Boston Netball League after a narrow 28-24 defeat against leaders Beta Belles on the Peter Paine Astro Court1.
After a close first quarter, Belles took a one goal lead. The game became an end-to-end battle but some strong attacking from Beta Belles saw them extend their lead to eight points after the third quarter.
Tulips fought hard to maintain possession with some great attacking movement in the final quarter. However, with great interceptions from Belles, Tulips were unable to close the gap.
Millie Weller was players' player of the match and Hayley Stevens umpire's player.
