MOTORCYCLING: Seven up for Aaron
Kirton rider Aaron Clarke claimed seventh spot in the sixth round of the Superstock 600 Championship at Knockhill.
He began the 22-lap race from the third row of the grid and got away to a really good start, moving up into sixth place on the first lap.
Two laps later he was up to fifth but the race was slowed when the course car came onto the track to enable the marshals to retrieve a crashed bike and rider on lap seven.
Clarke retained fifth place and, although he was in close company with a group of riders just behind him, he held his position until the final lap when G&S Racing Kawasaki's Milo Ward and Aaron Clifford passed him on the run to the flag.
Clarke was just half a second adrift to pick up nine championship points. He now holds joint fifth place in the overall standings on 59 points.
Sixth place for Ward earned 10 championship points and moved him up to seventh in the rider standings on 48 points
His team-mate Ben Luxton claimed a strong top 10 result and six championship points. He is now joint 19th on 15 points after just two races.
Clarke's Draper Racing team-mate Tommy Philp finished 15th in the sprint race and 16th in the feature race at the British Supersport Championships.
He holds ninth position in the rider standings on 53 points.
The next round is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of July 20-22.
