Following the success of last year’s event, Spalding Triathlon Club is once again hosting the Spalding Tri Event.
It takes place on Sunday, June 30 at the Castle sports complex and involves a 400m swim (pool), 20k bike ride (flat) and 5k run.
The event, whichpromises a good course for some quick times, is sponsored by Advance Performace and tria thloncentre.co.uk
A spokesman said: “This is a great chance for local people to join in or come and support the event.
“If you have never done a multi-discipline sport before why not come and have a try? It could be your challenge this year.
For more information, visit www.spaldingtri.co.uk, where you can find race details and entry forms.
If anybody would like to become a member or try out some of the club’s various training sessions, see the website for contact details and pop along to have a go.
nIf anyone can help on the day, volunteers are also needed.
nThree Spalding Triathlon Club members competed in the second race in the East Midlands Adult Series at Grantham.
Michael Staines, Callum McPartlin and Chris Pratt took part in the event, which consisted of a 400m pool swim, 20km undulating cycle and a 5km run.
The uncharacteristically cold and windy May day made the cycle even more challenging.
McPartlin suffered a mechanical problem, but still managed a respectable 1:02:22, coming fourth in his age group.
Staines had a much better race than the one he had last year at the same event in a time of 1:04:21 and Pratt, who spent the majority of his race battling against ex-local triathlete Mat Stephenson, finished in a time of 54:05, second in his age group, just being pipped to the post by the winner by one second.
Pratt finished fifth overall, less than two minutes down on the overall winner.
