Shale track motorsport’s biggest Banger Racing championship of the year takes place at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, on Saturday night.
The Unlimited Bangers World of Shale gets under way at 6pm, with racing also taking place on Sunday from 1pm when more Bangers and Stock Cars will be in action.
Popular Spalding drivers Simon Goodale and Will Longford will aim to secure their places on the World of Shale grid by getting through the night’s last-chance qualifying race.
The event has attracted the sport’s top drivers from all across the UK as part of its 80-strong entry, including defending champion Ian Redden of Northamptonshire, an acknowledged master of rear-wheel drive racing on shale, and Worksop brothers Tom and Jack Foster.
The ever-popular Lee Clarke (Norwich) and Sowter brothers, Carl and Taylor (Surrey) also make the journey
Spectators can also see two-litre Saloon Stock Cars and Unlimited Lady Bangers as well on Saturday night, with the Stock Car entry including the formula’s new World Champion, Norwich-based Simon Welton, as well as South Holland racers Jamie Clayton, Robert Heanes, Wes Starmer, Simon Venni and Tom Yould.
Venni drove impressively to sixth position in the recent World Championship, while recently-married Clayton has appeared only sporadically in 2015 but is recognised as one of the fastest drivers on the smooth shale at King’s Lynn.
Sunday’s National Banger racing comes in the form of the crash-happy 1500cc Bangers in a National Championship qualifying round.
Modstox, Stoxkarts and Junior Bangers complete a packed programme of racing action on Sunday afternoon.
