Bourne Abbots Pétanque Club will have a taster session to celebrate the opening of their new clubhouse.
The open day runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday at Abbey Lawn.
With the help of local groundwork contractors JJ Mac who kindly donated both materials and manpower for the foundation plus various fundraising events over the last four years and the help of several of their members, a new clubhouse was built to replace the 25-year-old sheds.
All ages and abilities (11 years plus) are welcome and refreshments will be available all day.
All equipment will be provided and club members will be on hand to introduce you to the boule game originating in the south of France.
Pétanque is played with hard metal boules on a terrain of compacted dirt/fine gravel. The rules are simple to learn but it can become a highly skilled and strategic game. There are around 30,000 players in England.
The game is easy to play no matter your sporting ability. You do not have to be fully fit and it suits people from all walks of life, age and gender.
Membership is currently set at £20 per year for adults and only £5 for children.
