TABLE TENNIS: Dwindling attendances hit league

Have your say

JULY was a disappointing month for attendances at the Spalding and District Table Tennis League’s open sessions – meaning the small charge to cover costs has had to be increased.

The ‘Summer Fun’ programme began Last Wednesday, with half of the tables taken up by children and their families, who took the opportunity to gain experience in the sport.

In addition, the club had two players attending for the Lincolnshire Sport promotion ‘Quest for Gold’ – which can be found online at

The league’s members were on hand to offer tips about how to hold the bat and serve, while also explaining the format of games.

Some also had the chance to try out a ‘professional’ bat.

A number of the youngsters expressed an interest in returning to the Castle Sports Complex sessions tomorrow.

Any others wanting to join in can visit or call the league secretary on 01775 760162.

• The league AGM and presentation night will be held on August 31.
