AFTER a frantic summer, the Spalding and District Table Tennis League is now able to announce details of their membership for next season.
Thirty two players have joined, down six on last season, in 12 teams, three less. Division One has seven who will play each other twice, while the second tier has only five – so they will play three times.
Anyone who feels they have missed out should contact the secretary on 01775 760162 as soon as possible. Spare places in teams are few, though a full team, minimum two players, might still be included.
The season starts on October 3 with the first round of the Moulton Shield, followed by the first round of league matches. Members wishing to know their fixtures should attend next week where they will be available.
In an attempt to keep the season’s closure to the end of April, some teams will find themselves with a cup match on a league night.
In that case the cup takes priority, so teams are being advised to try and bring matches forward.
It was a busy week of action at the Castle Sports Complex too, with all ten tables used on Wednesday night – half of them by visitors. Some of those have committed to joining the league this coming season, while others are to continue visiting.
It is anticipated that there will be two or three tables available for future use by visitors, at a cost of £3 a night per player, or members practice, along with the robot each week.
