SWIMMING: Record turnout as South Lincs shine

A record number of South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club members competed at the Lincolnshire Chmapionships – and between them they clocked 151 personal best times.

On the medals table, male swimmers’ Will Swain (12 years) picked up an incredible nine gold medals and four silvers, while Ryan Horrocks (12) grabbed eight golds and eight silvers.

Also impressive was Calvin Wilson (14), who picked up three golds, nine silvers and four bronze medals, with Luke Elliot (13) another on-song with three golds and a silver.

Tom Mitchell (15) raced to a gold and four silvers, while Harry Bumfrey (15) also clinched a gold and two bronzes.

Matthew Gray (13) got in on the medal rush too, taking two bronzes home.

In the female races, Eleanor Templer (13) won three silvers and six bronzes, Rebecca McKenzie (13) got a silver and three bronzes and Emily Blackbourn (16) took bronze.

• A host of top swimmers from South Lincs were selected to go on an eight-day training camp at St Julians’ Olympic training pool in Malta. Head coach Callum Lawson picked Sian Roberts, Georgia Roberts, Ellie Templer, Rebecca McKenzie, Gemma Baker, Sophie Taylor, Olivia Harper, Madden Wright, Alice Gowing, Emily McCann, Ryan Horrocks, Matthew Gray, Luke Elliott and Jack Booth and called the swimming his team produced “phenomenal”.
