A NATIONAL qualifying time from Chloe Hannam was the highlight for South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club at rounds four and five of the Lincolnshire county championship.

The teen sensation set the time in the 400m freestyle at the Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth, while also clocking a Midland time (MQT) in the 50m breaststroke and improving her best in the 100m breaststroke.

It was a successful weekend for the Spalding club, which set 37 personal best times (PB) and five MQTs in gala four in the morning, before adding 33 PBs, three MQTs and Hannam’s national time in gala five the following afternoon.

In the girls’ 50m fly, South Lincs dominated one of the races with Rebecca McKenzie, Chiara Leadbeater and Natasha Berg coming first, second and third respectively.

The boys’ 100m breaststroke saw Matthew Gray start slowly, but roar back to take first position at a canter.

In the girls’ 100m IM, Eleanor Templer led the way in her race with Rebecca McKenzie coming in second.

Elsewhere, Reggie Reeves and George Wensor tied with the same times in the boys’ 400m freestyle to make them joint fourth, while William Swain and Ryan Horrocks came in first and second respectively in their age groups – both gaining new MQTs.

Matthew Gray also bettered his MQT in the 400m freestyle, coming 3rd in his age group. Another to gain an MQT was Harry Bumfrey in the 400m freestyle, coming first in both his age group and the 14/under category.

Also shining in the morning session was Cheryl Wilson, who bettered her 200m backstroke MQT en route to coming first in her age group and second in the open.

Although Hannam’s heroics dominated the afternoon gala, Harry Bumfrey also got a new MQT for his 200m back and Eleanor Templer bettered her 400m free MQT.
