Talented Saracen’s Head supermoto ace Ben Stafford has two reasons to celebrate after finishing the season in style.

The teen flier managed an impressive podium at the final round of the Norasport British Supermoto Championship at Three Sisters, near Wigan.

Stafford has also been offered a fully backed ride for the SHR team in the 2013 season and will compete in both the European and British Championships – meaning he’ll now be considered a professional.

Delighted dad Andy Stafford, who is Ben’s mechanic, said: “This is something we have worked and dreamed of for years and it makes all of the sacrifices and hard work worthwhile.

“I am ecstatic for Ben to be signed as a professional rider. He has worked so hard to finish school, work, ride and grow up at the same time.”

Before turning pro, Stafford – who has missed several rounds due to various reasons – was back on a bike for only the sixth time this year in Lancashire as he finished his campaign in style.

Having spent much of the past six months travelling around Europe as mechanic to SHR’s Malachi Mitchell Thomas, the team offered Stafford a ride on one of their Honda machines for the weekend.

He was in the top five all day on Saturday and certainly got the paddock talking on his return to the fold.

Sunday started wet, but Stafford likes those conditions and promptly set the second fastest time in qualifying for the ‘Elite’ race. That form continued into the races as he took a well-deserved third place in the finale.

With big things now ahead for Stafford, he and his family thank all of the sponsors that have helped him get this far.
