Quadring teenager Sophie Jackson is enjoying her first season of senior showjumping on horses at national level.
The 16-year-old former pupil of Thomas Cowley High School, Donington, previously competed at riding club level on ponies before moving up to national level with her two ponies 18 months ago at which she had much success.
She moved on to horses in October and is now starting to get fantastic results with her young horse Atlanta Belle.
Earlier this month she won a qualifying round against more than 50 competitors to qualify through to the Joshua Jones Senior Discovery Championship to be held at the Blue Chip Championships in Gloucestershire in April.
At the weekend Sophie achieved a first and third place at Arena UK, Grantham, against stiff opposition.
She will be contesting more championship qualifiers over the coming weeks which hopefully will see her qualify through to national finals at Scope and Hickstead.
Her mum Paula said: “This is a huge achievement for such a young rider on a young horse (Atlanta Belle is five).
“This is testament to her dedication and hard work with a horse that she has only had for eight months and had not competed before.”
Sophie thanks her family for their ongoing support and Karen Swindells of The Mermaid Inn, Surfleet, for her sponsorship.
