Three Spalding drivers will be among the field when more than 70 pre-1985 Unlimited Bangers roll into King’s Lynn’s Norfolk Arena for the Big Reunion on Saturday (5pm).
The meeting builds on the Axe-tinction event which took place on the same weekend last year and paid homage to one of the sport’s most popular racers – Steve ‘Psycho’ Hemmings – on his retirement from racing.
A wonderful array of machinery is expected from the drivers taking part, including Spalding trio Simon Goodale, Will Longford and Jamie Jackson.
Goodale had one of the cars of the meeting at last year’s event and returns with the most archetypal banger racing car of all time, the Mk2 Granada.
Longford was in the thick of the action at Axe-tinction and went on to win the King of the Fens title later in the year.
Jackson has been in top form so far in 2014 and is sure to turn heads at the wheel of his 1983 Mercedes Limousine.
Two other banger racing categories, for lady racers and under-16s, complete the programme.
The lady banger entry includes Spalding pair Bridgett Woolley and Suzanne Lambe. Lambe managed a third place in her last outing on Easter Monday, while Woolley has already been a race winner in 2014.
