Spalding’s Top Club Mixed team are on course to retain their national title after winning the quarter-final against Welford.

They won four out of the five events to book their place in the last four.

Rink scores: ladies’ singles (Chelsea Tomlin) 22-12; men’s singles (Matt Whyers) 16-9; mixed pairs (Ruby Hill & Martin Spencer) 12-13; mixed triples (Jordan Philpott, Annie & Scott Dunham) 21-7; mixed fours (Rebecca Simpson, Gloria Haney, Ashley Caress & Graham Smith) 26-11.

The finals will be held on April 30 in York.

Spalding won their Men’s County League Division One fixture against Lincoln at the Castle Sports Complex.

Spalding used their home advantage well to claim a 92-80 shots victory, taking 14 match points out of 18.

Rink scores: G Smith 23-13; M Simpson 8-20; M Spencer 18-21; A Caress 20-14; best winning rink was D Green, P Cherry, K Crane, A Dunham 23-12.

Spalding ladies fell short of qualifying for the final of the Trudy Bates, despite two wins in their last two matches.

They beat Boston by 101 shots to 59, taking 14 match points. In their last match, Spalding needed to win on all rinks but took three wins, a draw and a narrow defeat.
