Cue ace Sean Swinburn wasted little time in finding his form on the first round of Spalding and District Snooker League fixtures.
The Long Sutton A maestro, who plays off an O49 handicap, pocketed a super 76 break against Holbeach D in the top flight.
But his side suffered a 5-1 opening day reverse at the hands of last year’s runners-up, for whom Zac Rowlett (R14) made a 24 break.
Pyramid B’s Alfonso Palumbo (O42) also hit the ground running with a 39 break. He also finished on the losing side though, as Donington A handed Pyramid B 4-2 beating.
In Division Two, a 22 clearance from Gary Thewliss (scr) helped Whittlesey A beat Gosberton B 5-1, while in the third tier a 31 break from Reg Waumsley (O7) helped Holbeach B defeat Consti A 5-1.
