THE last remaining unbeaten record in Spalding and District Snooker League ended last week as Division Three leaders Crowland A were finally beaten.
After seven wins, Services A beat them 5-1 on their own baize, with Jason Rose (O7) helping himself to a 22 break in one of four frame wins. Paul Quincey (R7), Jon Bettinson (scr) and Pete Mullane (O14) were the other winners.
That defeat allowed Tulips B to move a point behind the table toppers, after they dispatched Holbeach B 5-1.
But the best breaks in the third tier went to Kevin Sweeney (R14) of Consti E, who pocketed 23 in a 4-2 win over Consti H.
Elsewhere, a ninth win from ten games moved Donington C four points clear at the top of Division One.
The leaders saw off BSC A 5-1, while their two nearest rivals were slipping to defeats. Graham Slater (R7) was the star turn, making a cool 23 break in the final frame. Lee Hempsall (scr), Ben Wrigglesworth (R7) and Neil Favell (scr) were also winners.
Second-placed Pyramid F came unstuck against BSC B, who handed them a 4-2 home reverse despite a fine 40 break from Spencer Dawkins (O42).
Donington A went down by the same score against Crowland C, meaning they stay a point off second spot. Jamie Beeken (O7) managed a 20 break for Crowland C.
There was a shock in Division Two, as leaders Long Sutton D crashed to a surprise 4-2 home loss against Whittlesey B. That allowed Holbeach D, who prevailed 4-2 at Consti I, to move within a point of top spot. Richard Lowe (R7) clinched the away success in the final frame.
Big breaks were in short supply in this league, with 22s from Consti B’s Mick Johnson (O35) and Whittlesey A’s Andrew Blythe (O7) the best on offer.
In Division Four, Pyramid B took over at the top thanks to a 5-1 win at Gosberton C.
Consti J are hot on their heels after a 4-2 home return against friendly foes Consti D. Trev Braybrook’s (scr) 34 break helped them move two points off the summit.
Pyramid E also moved into the title picture with a 4-2 win over Bourne SC B. John Clapton (R7) made a 24 break in the process.
Meanwhile, a re-spotted black win for Susan Lefley (R14) guided Long Sutton C to a 4-2 triumph at Donington D.
David Lefley (scr) also trousered a 22 break for the promotion hopefuls.
