Royal Mail Cart Bowls Club member Ruby Hill has been selected to represent England at the Commonwealth Youth Games which are being held in Samoa next month.

The 15-year-old from Bourne flies out on August 31 in readiness for the Games which start on September 5 and finish a week later on her birthday.

Ruby will be challenging for gold in the girls singles event.

She is joined on the flight to Samoa by the boys representative, Bradley Coles from Hertfordshire. They will join forces in the mixed pairs event.

This will be the first time Ruby will be representing her country at outdoor bowls but she has already played for England indoors in Scotland last year.

She impressed the selectors and will again be representing England in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, in October during the under-18 internationals.

Ruby is the women’s EBF county champion and will represent Lincolnshire later this month at the National Finals in Skegness.

She is also a member of the Lincolnshire double rink team who will be competing at the EBA National Finals in Leamington Spa in the Walker Cup later this month.
