Southern League champions Spalding missed out in the Lincolnshire Union of Golf Clubs Junior League play-off final.

During the 2015 season, junior teams of all the clubs across the county competed in their respective leagues which saw Gainsborough winning the northern league.

To decide the overall Lincolnshire champion for the year, a play-off final was held at Market Rasen.

Play between two teams of six players was of four ball better ball match play, off handicap, over 18 holes.

As usual with these events they are well supported by followers of each team and the golf is of the highest standard and usually closely contested.

This year was no exception and at the end of the day it was Gainsborough who won 2½-½.

Each team was presented with their league championship shields.

Gainsborough also received the play-off winners’ salver and all players claimed prizes and a momento of the occasion.

Gainsborough will now represent Lincolnshire in the England finals in 2016.
