SPALDING Sparks Greens continued their impressive start to the winter season in the Stamford Netball League by upsetting league leaders Vision Express.

A great team performance, led by Lisa Broderick’s exceptional shooting prowess, gave them a 23-15 victory to put them joint top of Division One.

Broderick was aided in attack by Sophie Hallam and Caroline Russon, with Lara Ray dominating in her central role by breaking up Express’ game.

Captain Clare Barnett and Selina Taylor supported the excellent goalkeeping work of Siviwe Glass by stifling the opposition’s attack with some great interceptions, leaving Kat Braybrook to watch on admiringly as an unused sub.

This now leaves Sparks - who played without the sidelined Emma Holmes and Keely Lucas - in third place on goal difference with a crunch game against second-placed Rutland Panthers in two weeks.

Spalding Sparks Yellows are also having a great season in Division Two, sitting in third position.
