BRITISH Supersport championship leader Ben Wilson is gearing up for another epic battle with nearest rival Alistair Seeley at the Lincolnshire ace’s home circuit of Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Kirton rider holds a 43 point lead over Seeley entering round nine of the current campaign.
The previous round at Brands Hatch was one of the best races ever seen in the Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport series. In both races Wilson and Seeley went head-to-head with Seeley just finishing a tyre tread ahead of Wilson each time.
“I didn’t really get the results I wanted at Brands Hatch but at least I picked up another 40 championship points to keep a good gap between us,” said Wilson.
The 29-year-old will be looking to complete both races ahead of Seeley on home territory to maintain his advantage going into the final three rounds at Donington Park, Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
He added: “I am aiming to complete the remaining four rounds ahead of Alistair and if I pick up some wins along the way then that’s even better for me.
“I know I will have the backing of my friends, family and local fans at Cadwell and that will help but I have to approach it like I would any other circuit, get on the pace and get the results we need.
“We tested at Mallory last week and the Gearlink Kawasaki is running just fine. The boys have pulled out all the stops to put a strong bike under me and it’s down to me to reward them for their hard work with some top results.”
The weekend starts with two free practice sessions on Saturday ahead of qualifying on Sunday morning.
The 12-lap sprint race begins at 3.30pm on Sunday followed by the 16-lap feature race on Monday at 3.45pm.
