MOTORSPORT: Wilson bidding to break season’s duck at Cadwell

Have your say

BEN Wilson is eyeing up a maiden Motorspoint British Supersport Championship success of the season as the series returns to Cadwell Park this weekend.

The 30-year-old Gearlink Kawasaki racer from Kirton is currently holding fourth place in the overall rider standings and is desperate to return to the top of the podium in front of his huge army of fans and family.

Wilson has been on the podium six times this year, but the elusive race win has not yet come his way.

With two races to contest and 50 points up for grabs, there is everything to race for at the Lincolnshire circuit – and Wilson will be doing his best to snatch as many points as possible in order to move closer to the championship leader Jack Kennedy.

The racing kicks off for Wilson tomorrow, when he will be taking part in the two free practice sessions, the first at 10.10am and the second at 1.55pm.

He then has an early start on Sunday, with the solitary qualifying session due on track at 9am followed by the ten-lap sprint race at 11.30am. The feature race is on Monday and is scheduled to run over 16 laps at around 4.30pm.

Rider standings: 1st J Kennedy (Mar-Train Racing Yamaha) 243.5pts; 2nd G Richards (Smiths Gloucester) 234pts; 3rd B McConnell (Smiths Gloucester) 190pts; 4th B Wilson (Gearlink Kawasaki) 175pts; 5th S Warren (Seton Tuning Yamaha) 129pts.
