AARON Williamson has admitted that his dreams have come true after landing a drive in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
The 20-year old from Holbeach Drove will jump behind the wheel of a Team HARD Honda Civic at the Brands Hatch season finale later this month (October 20 and 21).
Having earned his stripes in the Ginetta Junior and GT Supercup Championships and the 2012 Renault Clio Cup, Williamson becomes the latest young driver to be given a chance by Tony Gilham’s Dartford-based outfit.
Williamson said: “I am really excited to be given the opportunity to race in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship by Tony Gilham’s Team HARD outfit.
“It has always been my ambition to be a touring car driver. All the years of racing and it finally comes down to this moment.
“I would just like to say a big thank you to all the support I have had from my fans, family, teams and of course my sponsors. PWM Recycling, Berridge Waste Paper and MI Electrical.
“I’m not going to Brands to get in the way of the drivers fighting for the championship, but I’m certainly aiming for a top ten result or two.”
Williamson’s efforts on the undercard of the Touring Car Championship have clearly caught the eye of Gilham, who rates the South Holland ace as ideal for his car.
Gilham said: “Aaron is the latest young talent we are looking to bring through.
“He’s been on the BTCC package in the support races for over four years and we believe he will fit the type of driver we want in our car.”
