MOTORSPORT: Rudd brothers endure nasty crashes

Have your say

BRUISE brothers Ryan and Ashley Rudd came a cropper at an ACU motocross team event at the weekend.

The Holbeach-based Team TRM aces were representing East Coast Racing at Louth – and both suffered nasty crashes.

Competing against the top racers from around the country, Ashley was averaging around 20th place in Saturday’s races.

But he was forced to make a trip to hospital after going over his handlebars in the day’s final race.

Despite being battered and bruised, Ashley suffered no serious injury – although he was unable to race on the Sunday.

Elder brother Ryan placed 13th, tenth and eighth on a strong day one. But he too was ‘cross-rutted’ on Sunday, hurting his shoulder in the process.

East Coast finished bottom of the standings after suffering a number of injuries.

Ashley is now unlikely to compete in the Norfolk and Suffolk Club meet at Great Hockham this weekend, while Ryan is a doubt.

But Mark and Kieran Rudd will certainly be flying the Rudd flag on the track.
