MORE local talent hit the victory road at the Norfolk Arena on Saturday night after another great display by the stock car and banger drivers.

This time it was Andi Newman (Gosberton) who grabbed all the headlines.

Things started out steadily enough for him with a fine fifth place in the White and Yellows Race, before he came out and dominated the field with a stunning win in the first heat.

Newman was looking as equally good in the second heat until his car spectacularly burst into flames. Luckily, he emerged unscathed.

Jamie Stafford (Spalding) also went well with an eighth place in the White and Yellows race being backed up with a fantastic drive in the first heat proper which was rewarded with a third place finish.

Simon Venni (Sutton St James) was back in the points too, finishing in fifth place in his heat. He was looking good for three finals out of three, but unfortunately due to a large delay to tend to an injured banger driver the meeting ran over curfew and the final was not staged.

The unlimited bangers saw another great performance from Simon Goodale (Spalding), who came home in fourth place in his heat.

The 1300 Stock Cars saw Tom Yould (Donington) being promoted to the blue grade, but he still ended the meeting as top points scorer with a fourth place finish in his heat being followed up with a fantastic runner-up spot in the final.

Also scoring well from the back of the grid was Gold Roof Champion Dan Booth (Pinchbeck).

He had a fine fifth place finish in the final, backed up with a another fifth place finish in his heat.

Stock Car Racing returns to King’s Lynn’s Norfolk Arena this Saturday (6.30pm) with a BriSCA triple bill on the cards.

That features the F1 and F2 stock cars, together with the MiniStox.
