Hi-octane Donington racer Christian “Bomber” Slater is bidding to get his season back on track this weekend.

Having crashed at Cadwell Park when testing in March, seeing an engine going bang at Snetterton and then suffering gearbox failure at Cadwell in May, Slater has managed just 19 competitive laps in 11 planned races so far.

But Bomber and his team are testing at Donington Park today (Thursday) in readiness for races this weekend.

The team have also sent entries into Auto 66 for the ‘Cock O’ The North Road Race’ in Scarborough on the July 20/21 and for the Gold Cup at the same track on the September 14/15.

Slater will be showing off a new bike at Donington. With the support of local engineer Martin Smith and sponsor Ian Dudley, the team have made one machine out of two Suzuki GSXR bikes.

The overhauled engine has been dyno tested and fuel mapped by Mark at BSD Performance – and it has achieved an an impressive 186bhp.

The team have decided to fit Dunlop Race Tyres for the rest of the season too, supplied by sponsor John Baker, of Massey Car Sales and Service of Holbeach.
