HOLBEACH lad Ben Stafford was overjoyed after securing a debut win for his new team at round one of the 2011 British Norasport Supermoto series at Silverstone.
In the teenager’s first outing for his new Cumbria based D3 team in the 250 National, he netted two first places and a second for an overall win on Saturday, March 26.
With a last minute change in the club championship ruling, Sunday’s groups were changed and the top eight riders from last season’s Open National group were moved up to the Open Elite group.
That left Stafford, riding in the Elite Class, up against a much tougher field comprising of 450cc bikes and larger.
But he proved that he can mix it with the best of them on his 250cc machine, gaining an impressive tenth in qualifying before going on to finish the day with three seventh place finishes.
Stafford now looks forward to the his next outing at Three Sisters in Wigan over the Easter weekend.
