Sudbury 1st 2,

Spalding 1st 5

Without several key players, Spalding started strongly and were a goal up within two minutes, when a precise through ball from Luke Jackson found Stuart Cunnington, who rounded two defenders before finishing clinically.

Sudbury pulled one back but Spalding continued to dominate and were rewarded with two superb short corner drag flicks from Stuart Cunnington to make it 3-1 at the break.

Luke Jackson made it four soon after the break and in the 27th minute of the half Josh Rowbottom lifted a saved penalty corner over the Sudbury keeper to make it 5-1.

Sudbury pulled one back but the result leaves Spalding sitting at the top of the table early on.

Spalding Ladies 1st 3, Bourne &Deeping 2

The visitors took the lead from a short corner and then piled on the pressure and scored a second before the break.

Spalding came out fighting in the second half and, ten minutes in, had their second penalty corner of the game, and worked this perfectly with a straight strike from Karen Timby to make it 2-1.

The second goal came when a strike from outside the 23 yard line was blocked and Tamika Providence equalised with the rebound.

Both teams fought hard in the last 10 minutes and Kelly Tuplin scored the winner after dribbling past two defenders and slotting it into the goal.

Horncastle 1st 3,

Spalding 2nd 4

Spalding began the game strongly and scored when Graham Doades dispatched a rebound from a well saved shot from Pete Wright.

However, Horncastle scored twice in quick succession to lead at the break.

Debutant Joe Higgins thrashed a shot past the keeper from the top of the area to equalise after the break, and a quick double from James Lowson soon put Spalding 4-2 up.

Horncastle did pull one back but Spalding held on for victory.
