Spalding Hockey Club’s junior coaching sessions get under way again on Saturday.
The Glen Park coaching sessions, which are for boys and girls aged from six to 14, will run every Saturday morning for 14 weeks until April 5.
Spalding cater for players of all abilities from complete beginners to those preparing for senior league hockey – with groups being trained by fully qualified coaches at under 10, 12 and 14 age levels.
The club asks for £3 per session to cover pitch hire and equipment costs, although there is also the popular option of just £25 for the 14 week spring programme.
Newcomers are given a free taster session, with sticks available if required. Participants are asked to wear suitable trainers and shinpads.
Meanwhile, no less than ten primary schools are now taking part in the the half-term hockey tournaments at Glen Park.
This has had a positive knock on effect at Spalding HC, with an increasing number of young players attending the club sessions – leading to a significant rise in the standard of play in the tournaments.
Spalding participate in the Lincolnshire Mixed Leagues on a monthly basis, with two teams entered at both under-12 and under-14 levels, which gives all players the opportunity for competitive hockey.
