Spalding ladies booked their place in the Lincolnshire Cup final by beating Long Sutton at Glen Park on Tuesday night.
The opening quarter of the game was closely contested, flowing from end to end.
Spalding opened the scoring after 20 minutes when Charlotte Boreham deceived the keeper with a deft flick.
Spalding pressed hard for a second but were denied on several occasions by some great saves.
Sutton put Spalding under pressure late on in the first half and were rewarded with a neat finish from a short corner in the last minute to take them in level at the break.
Spalding came out strongly at the start of the second half and gradually took control of the game through midfield.
Sutton were pinned back in their own half for long periods but Spalding were unable to capitalise on their pressure until 10 minutes from the end when Karen Timby struck home a short corner.
Spalding meet Lindum in the final but it must be rearranged as they are in a national mixed tie on the scheduled date.
Spalding will play Bourne Deeping in the men’s final on Sunday, April 9, starting at 2.30pm.
