IT was a case of lucky number seven for Spalding Gymnastic Club’s boys as they shone at the floor and vault county championships.
Held at Spalding’s Cradge Bank base, seven medals represented a very successful day for the lads.
In the U/8 age group, Ryan Cirino won the gold (20.70) with Sam Archer taking silver (20.45) and Jordan Ivatt finishing fourth.
No medals were won at U/9 level, although Jamie Steel did well to finish sixth against strong opposition. George Nicholls and Lenny Lock also did well.
Spalding were back on the winning trail in the U/10 age group, though. Rhiley Briston starred to grab gold (22.80) ahead of Zac Chapman in the silver medal position (22.35), while Jamie Waterson finished sixth.
More success followed in the U/12 boys group, with five Spalding boys placing in the top six – although they missed out on the gold.
Kieran Steel won the silver (22.65), with Joe Busby claiming bronze (22.20) and Callum Winsor fourth (22.10). The other Spalding stars were William Neal in fifth (21.50) and Bradley Ivatt in sixth (21.25).
Ross Chapman just missed out on a medal at U/14 level as he finished fourth with a score of 21.35.
But Luke Waterson excelled in the over 14 group to take the silver (21.15).
The next competition for Spalding’s boys is the Northampton county floor and vault team championships at Daventry on November 20.
