Sir John Gleed’s A team won the Spalding section of the South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association rounders tournament.

The girls won every game, with excellent victories against Bourne Academy’s A and B teams, University Academy Holbeach, Deepings, Gleed B team and Spalding High School.

The Gleed girls continue to stay unbeaten this year in rounders having won friendly games against Deepings and Bourne Academy.

This should set the team in good shape to compete in the final against Boston section winners Boston High.

A spokesman said: “This is the first time the girls have won the tournament.

“This is recognition for their fantastic attitude, application and improved skills this year.

“The girls train lunchtimes and after school and have shown a real passion for the sport.

“Owing to the popularity of rounders this year we have two teams in Year 9.”
