A huge crowd is expected at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, on Saturday (5pm) for one of the biggest banger racing events it has ever staged.
More than 160 Unlimited Bangers are booked to race in ‘Heinegone’, the farewell meeting of massively popular Dutch driver Pieter ‘Peewee’ Leistra.
Leistra has developed a cult following, mainly due to his attitude and commitment which has seen him race countless classic and rare cars over the years, always immaculately presented.
On Saturday he will be piloting five different cars – one for each of the four categories by which the opening round of heat races will be split, plus another for the destruction derby which is set to close the curtains on Leistra’s career in style.
Heats for American cars, pre-1970 and pre-1980 motors, plus more modern machinery, will be filled with a stunning array of cars, including many classics and limousines.
Spalding driver Ross Coleman is set to impress at the wheel of an Austin A135 Princess, a car well over 50 years old.
Moulton pairing Jamie Clayton and Simon Goodale will also be in action, along with Sutton St James racer Nathan Lake.
The weekend begins with a party at the track on Friday (7pm). Pre-meeting entertainment starts at noon on race day with a drivers’ parade at 4pm before racing at 5pm. An after-meeting party is set to continue late into the night.
