Four fantastic riders from Spalding High School have become national champions for a brilliant second year on the trot.

Alida Tysterman, Zoe Smith, Lucy Daly and Molly Johnson achieved outstanding marks in winning the 95cm Jumping With Style (JWS) event at the NSEA Championships in Buckinghamshire.

Under the expert tuition of Jane Carter, the girls fought off competitors from over 37 different schools based all over Great Britain.

Alida had won at this level with the school last year and also gained a respectable eighth place individually this time.

In the 1.05m JWS competition, the team of Alida, Zoe and Christina Faulkner finished third, with Zoe getting an individual third as well.

In the showjumping, Zoe, Christina, Alida and Holly Hetherington were seventh in the 1.05m class and third in the 1.10m class, with Christina fifth in the evening jump-off for the 95cm class.

Other success went to Olivia Gresswell, who was fifth in the novice dressage, and the team of Olivia, Yasmin Peach and Lucy, who were a creditable 13th.

Olivia and Lucy were third in the 75cm and 85cm JWS respectively and the 85cm showjumping team of Lucy, Holly, Molly and Nina Halgarth came fifth.

The younger riders, Milly Hitcham, Amy Whittington, Alice Patrick and Helen Peach gained valuable experience from their first championships, and all jumped good rounds, with Helen claiming two excellent clear rounds as anchorman.
