DARTS: It’s all Wright on the night for Dawn’s trophy spree

Have your say

DAWN Wright enjoyed a Spalding and District Ladies Darts League finals night to remember as she got her hands on four more trophies.

The trophy spree started in the Ron Gaunt Cup, which was contested by her New Saracen’s Head side and the Blue Bell A.

With both teams on six legs each going into the last game, Wright won all three legs to secure a 9-6 win and wrap up a double of sorts for the Division One champions.

Wright then won the Captain’s Cup with a victory over Chris Crawford of Bell B (Weston Hills).

Next up was the doubles, as she teamed up with her mother Eileen Barnard.

Unfortunately for the mother and daughter pairing, they lost the final 2-1 to Robin Hood A duo Sharon Boldy and Rachel Wortley.

Wright and Barnard had earlier won through against Amanda Holden and Pam Stevenson of Blue Bell A, while Boldy and Wortley took out Casey Horspool and Lyndsay Wingell of NSH to go into the final.

Not done yet, Wright also lifted the singles trophy with a 2-0 win over her talented team mate Horspool.

She had earlier won through to the final against Elaine Hilliam of Golden Lion, with Horspool beating Jan Sinclair of the Riverside.

With Wright taking the singles title, this also gave her the Diane Smith Trophy.

As winner of the summer singles and winter singles, she automatically claimed the trophy.

Elsewhere, Horse and Groom A swooped to secure the Division One Cup crown.

After a strong season in the top flight, Groom went into the final as strong favourites against a Fenway A side that found themselves at the wrong end of the standings.

They led all the way with wins from Julie Fines (3-0), Glynnes Bannock (2-1) and Sally McBride (3-0) eventually taking the match with an emphatic score of 10-5.

The Division Two Cup went to Robin Hood A, who completed a second tier double.

Hood saw off Lamb and Flag 8-7, with Sharon Boldy winning 3-0 in the fourth game against Michelle Allen to give them the win.

Meanwhile, the Division Three Cup final between Tigers and Ship went down to the wire.

Eventually 3-0 success from Tigers’ Teresa Ocock helped her side prevail 8-7.
