ON-SONG Blue Bell B rocked the Spalding and District Ladies’ League Division Two leaders by handing them a first reverse of the season.
Table-toppers Horse and Groom B went into the home clash with eight wins out of eight, but found their visitors in impressive form.
Although every clash was tight, they won four out of the five singles showdowns – thanks to Katy Goddard, Trudie Paul and Jean Irwin (twice) – as well as the doubles to prevail 11-7.
Second-placed Lincoln Arms took full advantage, beating Deer’s Leap 11-7 with Eva Spinks throwing a 135.
In the top flight, Ship sunk Riverside 10-8 to go level on points with leaders New Saracen’s Head.
Sharon Boldy nailed two 140s for the high-fliers, a throw matched by Linda Pack.
Horse and Groom A are just two points behind the top two after a convincing 13-5 return from their trip to Holbeach USC.
They won every showdown, with singles success coming from S Sillett (twice), J Fines, L Middleton and L Merrison.
• FORMIDABLE Fenway A made it eights wins on the spin as they went a whopping 50 points clear at the summit of Aron Moyses Spalding Town League Division One.
They cruised past Lincoln Arms A 16-5, in a game that saw both Alan Harris and Aron Moyses notch 180 maximums.
Fenway’s Steve Stancer was also in top form, finishing with a super 111 checkout.
It’s much tighter in the second tier, with pace-setters Lincoln Arms C pushed all the way against Pied Calf.
They needed a last-ditch doubles win from M Robinson and N Fairbanks to edge home 11-10.
That allowed nearest challengers Birds A to close the gap by five points to eight, after they won an all-club affair with Birds B 16-5. A fantastic finish was the catalyst for their success, as D Mackman won his singles 3-0, before teaming with M Wort to win the opening doubles by the same score.
