NEIL Palmer was once again the man to beat at round eight of Spalding Cycling Club’s ten mile Time Trial League.
The pace ace was more than a minute quicker than any other rider, finishing the Pode Hole course in a cracking time of 23.22 minutes.
Palmer and the other cyclists had the benefit of a back wind down the main straight, but paid the price on the remainder of the course as they faced a stiff head wind.
That made for exciting action, with Harry Bellars and Ian Fensom battling out a fantastic race for second spot.
In the end nothing could separate them, with both clocking 24.50mins for joint second place.
It was almost as close for fourth spot, with four riders all within seven seconds of each other.
That clutch was headed by Tom Webster, with Derek Chamberlain, Jake Peel and Andrew Gurney all hot on his heels.
A number of guest riders from local rivals Bourne Wheelers were also competing alongside the Spalding contingent, with the duo of Mark Botteley and Campbell Pollock fastest on a 2up bike.
