Velo-One rider Matt Elworthy returned to Milton Keynes Bowl for round four of the March Criterium Series last weekend.
Previous rounds had seen him finish just outside of his aims of a top-10 place.
Experience of racing the circuit enabled Elworthy to position himself at the front of the race and come away with a sixth-place finish and valuable British Cycling points towards his season goal of moving up the racing rider categories.
Meanwhile, Neil Palmer and Paul Hutchinson started their road race season in round one of the Velo99 Road Series.
A handicap race saw Palmer and Hutchinson start in the last (scratch) group.
Despite not being able to catch the leading group, Palmer and Hutchinson finished sixth and ninth in their group respectively.
Antony Gough and Nick Millward started their time trial season at the Sleaford Wheelers 10 Mile TT.
Following a solid 2016 season, Gough started the new campaign strongly with a second overall placing in a time of 22 mins 56 secs.
Millward, coming back from a broken collarbone, posted a time of 27 mins 54 secs.
