Spalding’s Chloe Hannam was the star of the show for City of Peterborough Swimming Club during a sparkling second week of the British Gas ASA National Championships in Sheffield.
The talented 17 year-old all-rounder returned with a full set of medals and an Eastern region senior record.
Hannam’s medal run began on the second day of competition when she took the silver in the 800m freestyle.
On day four she went one better when taking the 200m backstroke honours with a new Eastern region record time.
And to round off her wonderful week she won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle final.
Hannam also qualified for the 200m individual medley final, where she just missed out on another medal by finishijng fifth in a new personal best time.
Head coach Ben Negus said: “I am delighted for Chloe and her performances in her last full season with COPS.
“She deserves to be national champion on the 200m backstroke as she has worked for that over the last two years.
“Her time also puts her in the top 30 in Europe and the top 50 in the world.
“She’s earned that and I am sure with her scholarship in the States she will only go on to better things.”
