BUZZING BSC made a perfect start to the new Spalding League season as they dominated Donington 7-0.

John Bellerby (R80), Stewart Davies (R30) and Alan Hansard (R70) all weighed in with breaks of 21 or more as they opened up with wins.

The best break went the way of Hansard (34), while Davies (27, 23 and 22) and Davies (21) were also winners.

Three other teams starting well were Pyramid A, Holbeach B and Crowland B. The Bourne side edged out Consti G 5-2, Eric Wyer (R30) leading with a 20 break and a win.

Holbeach B also registered five points in their all-club affair against Holbeach C. Nigel Ward (R100) got the ball rolling as he took the scalp of Hugh Pinner (O170). Veteran ace Pinner did manage breaks of 48 and 39, though.

Chris Chamberlain (O90), who made breaks of 25 and 20, then clinched victory for the B team by beating Alan Yardley (scr) 200-154, before Brian Bowell (R20) got two points for the C side.

The league’s highest handicapper Rob Childs helped guide Crowland B to a fine 5-2 victory at Gosberton.

Childs (O200) pocketed breaks of 49, 39 and 27 against David Haresign (R90), while Alan Sharman (R80) wrapped up the win by beating Andy Shephard (R120).

Pyramid B squeezed past hosts Consti B 4-3, but it was the home side’s Mick Johnson (O170) who stole the show. He plundered a dazzling 70, while also adding scores of 52, 41 and 36 en route to Consti’s only frame win.

James Sharpe (R40) and Darrell Read (R50) trousered breaks of 31 and 28 respectively to earn the Bourne boys a narrow success.
