BILLIARDS: Rob is back on top form

Have your say

CROWLAND cue maestro Rob Childs was back to his dazzling best in Spalding and District League last week.

The O200 handicapper reeled of a spree of top breaks to inspire Crowland B to the only 7-0 whitewash of the week against Gosberton.

Childs’ best offering against Malc Dennis (R100) was a sweet 79, while he also pocketed scores of 63, 51, 46 and 38. Team mate Paul Holland (R70) backed him up with breaks of 23 and 21.

Meanwhile, Pyramid B go into the Christmas break with one hand on the title after a 12-successive win.

Nearest challengers Consti B were their latest victims, with Darrell Read (R50) plundering a 34 break.

Mick Johnson (O170) did trouser scores of 49, 40, 33 (twice) and 22, but he couldn’t stop the Bourne boys going 24 points clear at the summit.

Towards the foot, Consti C ended their seven-game losing streak by dispatching Pyramid A 5-2. Eric Wyer’s (R30) breaks of 28 and 20 were in vain for the Bourne side.

Elsewhere, Crowland A made it three wins on the trot by edging past Consti A 4-3.

An unfinished 30 break from Neil Burton (R90) was the highlight.
