BILLIARDS: It’s Childs play for Rob as leaders are dumped out

Have your say

A Rob Childs masterclass helped Crowland B send Spalding and District Billiards League leaders Consti C tumbling out of the KO Shield.

The O190 handicapper made breaks of 67 (twice), 54, 32 and 30 to register Crowland’s only frame win – but it was still good enough to win the tie 556-538.

Second-placed Consti B are also out of the competition after a comprehensive 581-421 defeat against friendly foes Consti A.

Not even a 55 break from Mick Johnson (O160) could help his side, as he found a mammoth handicap deficit of 260 too much against Peter Tingle (R100) and lost 200-22.

Holbeach USC A were on cracking form in their tie, with Hugh Pinner (O170), Brian Bowell (R20) and Alan Yardley (scr) all victorious in a 600-523 triumph over Pyramid B. Pinner top scored with a 48 break.

Long Sutton progressed too after beating Pyramid A, with Mick Cooper (O40) making a 45 break.

Also through are Consti D, who beat Gosberton 566-537.
