BILLIARDS: Holbeach C get going

Have your say

HOLBEACH C kickstarted their season by reeling off a first maximum win.

Brian Bowell’s side have been languishing near the foot of the Spalding and District Billiards League table.

But Crowland B were on the end of their better form last week.

Bowell saw off Roger Goodliffe 200-143 and Hugh Pinner’s best of six notable breaks in his defeat of Paul Holland was 51.

And Alan Yardley edged out Alan Sharman 200-185 to complete the clean sweep.

BSC were last week’s other 7-0 winners, adding to Consti C’s losing run.

Joe Garland (R80) had a nice 33 break en route to beating Pat Bowman (R110).

Meanwhile, Neil Burton and Jason Bloomfield were winners as Crowland A picked up five points at home to Donington.

The away side’s points came courtesy of Norman Gookey’s 200-115 defeat of Derek Tinkler.

Donington’s Sid Shaw had a 30 break in his defeat by Burton.

Gosberton sank to the bottom rung of the table with a 5-2 loss at Pyramid A.

Andy Shephard got their only win, Stewart Sandall and John Twell were the Bourne side’s winners.

In the match between Consti A and B, breaks of 48 and 34 could not prevent the B team’s Mick Johnson slipping to defeat by Bob Adams.

But wins for John Keeton and Steve Spencer completed back-to-back 5-2 wins for Consti B.
