THERE will be no perfect Spalding and District League season for Pyramid B as they were finally beaten at the 14th time of asking.
An inspired performance from lowly Donington brought their 13-game winning streak, as the Bourne leaders went down 5-2.
Sid Shaw (scr) – who made breaks of 37, 31, 23, 21 and 20 – and Jim Thompson (R30), who added a 22 of his own, delivered the decisive wins.
Two days later Pyramid B were booted out of the Billiards Shield too, with Long Sutton whitewashing them 6-0. Adam Barwell (R20), Sean Swinburn (R20) and Mick Cooper (O30) all delivered frame wins, pocketing breaks of 32, 20 and 31 respectively in the process.
Back in the league, second-placed Consti B beat Gosberton 4-3 to cut the gap at the top to 22 points. Mick Johnson (O160) lit up the tie with breaks of 54 and 52.
Big breaks were notched elsewhere too. Rob Childs (O190) weighed in with a 64, 55 and an unfinished 60 as his Crowland B side lost 5-2 against Holbeach B.
Veteran Hugh Pinner (O170) was also in fine form, trousering scores of 58 and 53. But his Holbeach C side lost 5-2 to Crowland A.
