BILLIARDS: Bourne side steaking clear

Have your say

RELENTLESS Spalding and District League leaders Pyramid B streaked 16 points clear last week after sweeping aside their nearest rivals.

The Bourne boys made it a perfect seven wins from seven by dispatching Consti A, who went into the fixture second, 7-0.

A whitewash was a little harsh on Consti, with all three frames incredibly tight.

But wins for Paul Machin (R60), who made a 22 break, Phil Cooke (R90) and Martin O’Connor (R40) were enough for the hosts.

Robert Adams (R30) and Lindsay Porter (R40) were both unfortunate to lose 200-196 and made breaks of 24 and 31 respectively.

Consti B are now second after a Mick Johnson inspired win over Pyramid A.

The O170 handicapper made breaks of 55, 47, 38 (twice), 24, 22 and 20 as his side won 5-2. John Twell (R70) replied with breaks of 25 and 20 for the Bourne side, as he sealed their two points.

But the biggest break of the week went to Holbeach C’s Hugh Pinner (O170). He pocketed scores of 66, 64 and an unfinished 53 – but saw his side beaten 4-3 at BSC.

Holbeach stay bottom of the pile.

Their plight wasn’t helped by Crowland A, who followed up last weekend’s maiden win of the campaign with another success. They edged past Gosberton 4-3, with Jason Bloomfield (R60) trousering a 22 break and Derek Tinkler (O30) notching scores of 21 and 20.

Also winners last week were Holbeach B.

They moved up to third in the standings with a 5-2 home triumph over Consti C, with Chris Chamberlain (R90) racking up a 23 break.
