CHRIS Newton raced to victory at Holbeach and District Angling Club’s Lewis Cup on Sunday.

With the Cement Bridge drain fishing well again, Newton helped himself to a net 8lbs 7oz – which included a tench of 3lbs, plus perch and silver fish. All were taken on worm hook bait.

A bit off the pace in second was Jonathan Stubley with 5lbs 03oz of small roach and rudd, taken on pinkie.

Third place went to ever-improving newcomer Jim Fennelow (4lbs 8oz).

Next match is on Sunday at Goates Lane (draw 7.15am).
