Spalding Golf Club ladies make progress in the Taskers Trophy competition
Spalding Golf Club Ladies have made the quarter-finals of the Taskers Trophy after entering the competition for the first time.
They defeated Chesterfield in the third round of the event where the proceeds go to supporting the county junior sections.
The Spalding side will have now home advantage in the next round when they entertain Trentham.
The ladies team went down to a 2.5-1.5 defeat when they played away at Belton Park in a friendly.
Margaret Barkway and Sue Matthews were the only winning pair after a 2&1 success while Gill Dewhurst and Jacquie Walton halved their match.
Lizzie Cooke and Jenny Pipe went down to a 4&3 defeat while Sue Watson and Helena Steward were beaten 2&1.
They then recorded a better result after beating Woodhall Spa 3.5-0.5 on their home course at Surfleet.
Margaret Barkway and Elaine Maclean halved while Carole Holland and Gill Dewhurst ran out 3&1 winners.
Jenny Wilson and Chris Vickers won their match 4&3 while Vee Rouse and Maureen Orwell were triumphant after a 3&2 success.
