Spalding Golf Club's ladies teams make progress in national competitions




Spalding Golf Club’s ladies teams have made progress in two national knock-out competitions.

They swept the board in a 5-0 victory over Tydd St Giles in the Annodata competition with Nicky Weller, Tracy Siddle, Jackie Bailey-Scott, Jenny Van Gemeren and Jacquie Walton all victorious for Spalding who now await the draw for round two.

They faced Tydd St Giles again in the first round of the Taskers Trophy which was played over two legs.

Spalding triumphed in the home match 4-3 with the winning ladies being Olive Gooderson, Anita Cross, Tracy Siddle and Nicky Weller.

The second leg at Tydd resulted in a 5-2 win for Spalding after victories for Claire Rylott, Jackie Bailey-Scott, Tracy Siddle and Nicky Weller while Olive Gooderson and Anita Cross both halved their matches.

Spalding now await their opponents for a home draw in the next knock-out round.

Seventeen ladies took part in the tough Mary Hendry 27-hole medal competition last week.

Ronnie Thorogood finished in first place over 27 holes with a mightily impressive -2 while Tracy Siddle took second place with +3. Claire Rylott was third with +4 and Jenny Van Gemeren fourth with +5.

An 18-hole Stableford was also played on the same day with Jane Thompson claiming first prize with 44 points.
