Pinchbeck United visit ON Chenecks in the Kingfisher Lighting United Counties Cup
Pinchbeck United manager Lewis Thorogood is looking for a response from his charges as their Kingfisher Lighting United Counties Cup campaign continues this weekend.
The Knights travel to face ON Chenecks for the third match of their Premier Division group competition.
They have suffered back-to-back 2-0 defeats in their opening two games against Harborough Town and Rothwell Corinthians.
And Thorogood is looking for an improved showing on Saturday for his side after a lack-lustre display last weekend.
He said: “We weren’t good enough or physical enough last weekend and it’s up to the players now to respond and show me what they are about.
“This level can make or break players, especially the younger ones, and this is like a step five trial.
“We also need to look at trying to get some positive results which is important because they haven’t won a game of competitive football for a very long time.
“We want to finish this competition as strongly as we can and now is the time to start looking at these players and asking if they are ready for next season or not.”
Saturday’s hosts ON Chenecks have so far collected three points from their opening two group games.
They started with an impressive 4-1 home win over Lutterworth Town before slipping to a 2-1 reversal at GNG Oadby last Saturday.
Pinchbeck host Oadby in their next home match on May 1 before completing the programme at Lutterworth.
