Pinchbeck United host Rothwell Corinthians in their next match of the Kingfisher Lighting United Counties League Cup competition
Pinchbeck United will be aiming to net their first points of the Kingfisher Lighting United Counties League Cup campaign when they host Rothwell Corinthians at the Sir Halley Stewart ground on Saturday.
The Knights went down to a 2-0 reversal in their opening group match against Harborough Town last weekend.
Rothwell got their cup campaign off to a winning start with a 2-0 home success over GNG Oadby despite the departure of manager Wayne Abbott who stood down last week due to work and family commitments.
Knights boss Lewis Thorogood is hoping his side can build on their promising midweek display when they were defeated 2-0 by Northern Premier League South East Division side Wisbech Town.
He said: "We knew it wasn't going to be easy on Tuesday night and we had two or three lads who we didn't want to risk before Saturday.
"But our build-up play from back to front was better, we created chances and should really have put one of those away.
"We will be going strong on Saturday and we will be going out there to get some points. If we play like Tuesday night then we will give ourselves a good chance."
Knights defender Jack Fixter is expected to recover from the groin injury that forced him off late on last weekend while striker Nathan Moss - who is on a youth loan from Chesterfield - should also feature after coming unscathed through 70 minutes of a midweek match for the Spireites.
The match on Saturday - which is again being played behind closed doors - will kick-off at 12.30pm following a recommendation from the Football Association that no fixtures take place between 2.45pm and 4.15pm as a mark of respect due to the funeral of Prince Philip.
