Twin joy for Santos brothers to claim world titles
Holbeach twins Cristiano and Santiago Santos brought back world championship medals.
The 11-year-olds won gold in the synchronized kata - despite being the youngest team in their category against competitors aged 17 and 18.
Cristiano Santos also took silver in the individual kata while Santiago got bronze at the World Karate and Kickboxing Championships in Manchester.
Kata is a Japanese word meaning form and it involves a carefully choreographed pattern of movements.
The brothers followed up their success at this year’s European Shotokan Karate Championships in Manchester when they brought home a total of one silver and three bronze medals from individual and team events.
Fighting Spirit Club meets at Holbeach Community Centre on Thursdays from 3.30pm until 6.30pm and at Gedney Dyke Village Hall on Mondays between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
