KESTEVEN RFC U/13s 10 SPALDING RFC U/13s 27: TOWN’S in-form youngsters ran in five tries as they swept aside Kesteven on Sunday.

On a dry but blustery day, both sides were struggling due to county commitments.

But Spalding were the stronger of the two sides and, playing down the slope, they soon opened the scoring when JJ Faulkner glided over.

Alex Worth then crashed over for Spalding’s second as they continued to control the game, with the team tackling well and retaining possession for the backs to finish. James Hook added the third score, which he converted himself.

After the interval a good break from Harry Wilkinson-Roberts, with good support play, allowed Tom Birdseye to cross the line.

And they weren’t done there, with another Wilkinson-Roberts break leading to their final score. He again offloaded well when tackled, leaving Faulkner to touch down for his second try.

Kesteven maintained their commitment to the game and their endeavour was rewarded by two late tries – including one sensational individual effort. But it failed to take the gloss off a top Town display.
